Rocklin High varsity baseball coach Roc Murray will throw out the first pitch at Thursday’s Sacramento River Cats’ game.

The River Cats are hosting the Fresno Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. at Raley Field in West Sacramento.

The River Cats are honoring Murray for his California Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award. Murray was named Baseball Coach of the Year for the 2009-10 school year.

Murray has led the Thunder to Sac-Joaquin Section, Division II titles in 2009 and 2010. He has coached the Thunder into the DII finals in three of the last four years.

The CCA, according to a press release, chose Murray for his “coaching excellence and professional contributions of time, service and dedication to the profession of athletics.”

The River Cats front office is encouraging members of the Rocklin baseball community to come to the game and wear blue in support of Murray.

Murray was also honored by the CCA at an awards banquet on June 19 in Fresno.
